The Connected Kingdom →
This report reveals just how big the UK’s Internet economy is right now. It’s worth 100bn to the UK - more than the construction, utilities or transport sectors. The report is also important because it tells us how big the UK’s Internet economy could be in the future - potentially 10% of GDP. As we face uncertain economic times ahead, this report suggests that Internet...
When It’s Darkest Men See the Stars →
I believe that we will look back at this decade as the beginning of an economic revolution as important as the scientific revolution in the 16th century and the industrial revolution in the 18th century. We’re standing at the beginning of the entrepreneurialrevolution. This doesn’t mean just more technology stuff, though we’ll get that. This is a revolution that will permanently reshape business...

Pulling the plug on GeoCities
Today, Yahoo is pulling the plug on GeoCities (and 2 of my oldest sites).
I won’t go into analyzing how whole communities can actually disappear from the Internet, even if they’re bought by giant companies for $3.6 billion. Reasonable people know what to think of this.
xkcd.com made the best hommage:
Goodbye GeoCities. You won’t be forgotten :)

It's the people
Strategies, policies, aids and access are important of course.
But it’s really about believing in yourself, putting forward your idea and trying as hard as you can to implement it. The ultimate barrier isn’t the economy, a lack of infrastructure or bad politics - it’s you knowing for sure that “yes, your stuff matters” and not giving it up until you must (only to try...
Hot stuff from Facebook
This rentrée has been packed with important news from Facebook, both for the geekier crowd and the others:
300 million users and cashflow positive - Zuckerberg announces that Facebook is huge and is cash flow positive, before the announced estimate of 2010. This is huge and yes, it fuels the Twitter business model debate. Facebook emanates this notion of powerful execution that definitely...
Blogging (and giving in to Tumblr)
It’s friday night on 9/11. I *must* start blogging, say the consensual voices around me (and in my head) — I’ve been hearing them for too long.
I have tried to blog before and have failed, by most measures. Blogging isn’t publishing blog posts. It’s about expressing yourself (posting), engaging with people (commenting and linking) and ultimately about being a member...

The Hunt For Gollum
How awesome! It’s a independent high quality low budget collaborative movie based on an appendice of The Lord of the Rings, revolving around Aragorn’s search of Gollum.
I’m looking forward to tomorrow’s premiere. In the website’s guestbook, people are very happy and offering to donate money to this and hopefully future projects.
The project and...
